Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 13, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how the developer ("we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Yururon iOS app (the "App"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described below.
1. Who we are
The App is developed and operated by an individual developer. For privacy-related inquiries, contact support@yururon.app.
If disclosure of the provider's name, address, or similar information is required under Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information or other applicable laws, we will respond without undue delay upon request, after reasonable identity verification.
2. Information we collect
We collect only the information needed to provide the App's features.
2.1 Account information
When you sign in with Sign in with Apple, we receive:
- A unique Apple-issued user identifier
- Your email address (this may be Apple's private relay address if you choose to hide your email)
- Your display name (only if you choose to share it on first sign-in)
You can use most of the App without signing in. Sign-in is required only for bookmarks and push notifications.
2.2 Usage data stored to your account
When you are signed in, the following data is associated with your account:
- Bookmarks — papers you have bookmarked
- Reading history — papers you have opened from the list
- Device push token — used to deliver new-paper notifications
2.3 Advertising identifiers
If you grant App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission, the App allows Google AdMob to access the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) to deliver more relevant ads on the paper detail screen. If you decline, ads are still shown but are not personalized using your IDFA.
Even if you do not grant ATT permission, Google may process information needed for ad delivery, fraud prevention, impression measurement, and similar purposes. For details about Google's handling of information, please review Google's Privacy Policy and applicable AdMob policies.
2.4 Information we do not collect
- We do not collect precise location data.
- We do not access your contacts, photos, microphone, or camera.
- We do not maintain analytics that profile your individual behavior.
3. How we use information
We use collected information to:
- Authenticate you and keep you signed in
- Sync your bookmarks and reading history across your devices
- Send push notifications when new papers are published (only if enabled)
- Show ads in the App, and (with your consent) personalize them
- Investigate technical issues and prevent abuse
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Third-party services
The App relies on the following third-party services. Each operates under its own privacy policy.
| Service | Purpose | Provider's policy |
|---|---|---|
| Sign in with Apple | Authentication | https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/ |
| Supabase | Backend database and authentication | https://supabase.com/privacy |
| Google AdMob | In-app advertising | https://policies.google.com/privacy |
| Apple Push Notification service | Delivering notifications | https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/ |
We send information to the third-party services above only to the extent necessary to provide the App. Each third-party service applies its own privacy policy and contractual terms to protect personal information. When selecting third-party services, we check that user data will be handled in a manner consistent with this Policy, applicable laws, and App Store requirements.
Paper content shown in the App is fetched from arXiv and other external sources by our backend. These external sources do not receive any of your personal data from the App.
5. AI-generated content
Paper summaries and concept artwork shown in the App are generated by AI on our backend before delivery. The AI generation process uses only the public paper metadata (title, abstract, etc.) — your personal data is never sent to any AI service.
6. Data retention
- Account data and bookmarks are retained while your account exists.
- If you delete your account, we delete the associated profile, bookmarks, reading history, and device tokens in principle within 30 days.
- We may retain the minimum necessary information for a limited period to comply with laws, prevent abuse, investigate technical issues, or prevent restoration from backups.
7. Your rights
You can:
- Sign out at any time from the Settings screen.
- Disable push notifications from iOS Settings → Notifications.
- Withdraw tracking consent from iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Delete your account from the App's Settings screen. If you delete your account, we will delete the associated account data in principle within 30 days.
- Contact us at the email address above if you need support with account deletion or the handling of your personal information.
You may have the right under applicable laws to request access to, correction of, addition to, deletion of, suspension of use of, or suspension of third-party provision of your personal data held by us. To make such a request, please contact us at the address above. We will respond in accordance with applicable laws after reasonable identity verification.
Depending on where you live, you may also have rights under applicable laws (such as GDPR or CCPA) to access, correct, or port your personal data. Contact us to exercise these rights.
8. Children's privacy
The App is not primarily directed to children of any specific age group. If you are a minor, you must use the App with the consent of your parent or legal guardian and under their supervision.
We do not knowingly collect more personal information from children than is necessary to provide the App. If a parent or legal guardian wishes to review, delete, or suspend the use of a child's personal information, or if you believe a child's information is included in the App, please contact us. We will respond in accordance with applicable laws after reasonable identity or guardian verification.
9. International data transfers
The third-party services used by the App may process data in countries or regions outside Japan. For example, account information, information needed for ad delivery, and information needed for push notifications may be processed in regions where service providers such as Supabase, Google, and Apple operate.
We use these third-party services only to the extent necessary to provide the App, after reviewing their publicly available privacy policies, security information, contractual terms, and related materials. If you have questions about international data transfers, please contact us.
10. Security
We use industry-standard measures (including TLS in transit and access control on the backend) to protect your data. However, no service can guarantee perfect security.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Effective date" above will reflect the latest revision. Material changes will be announced in the App or via email where appropriate.
